CA FOUNDATION ACCOUNTS 2023 : SYLLABUS, PATTERN, PAPERS

Paper 1: Principles and Practices of Accounting Syllabus (100 Marks)

The first paper that students take for the CA Foundation course is titled “Principles and Practices of Accounting.” The curriculum for CA Foundation Accounts is comprised of fundamental accounting topics, some of which the student may have already covered in the 11th and 12th grades.

The following is what will be covered in the CA Foundation accounts syllabus for the tests in May 2022:

   1. Books of Accounts

   1. Bill of Exchange and Promissory Notes

   1. Final Accounts of Partnership Firms
   2. Admission, Retirement, and Death of a Partner including Treatment of Goodwill

    1. Definition of shares and debentures
    2. The issue of shares and debentures, forfeiture of shares, re-issue of forfeited shares
    3. Statement of Profit and Loss and Balance Sheet as per Schedule III to the Companies Act, 2013.
    4. Basic Accounting Ratios (Profitability, Solvency, Liquidity, and Turnover)

CA FOUNDATION EXAM PATTERN

The following is the structure of the CA Foundation test, as well as the grading scheme:

1. The CA Foundation Exam has four different subjects, and each subject is worth 100 marks, for a total of 400 marks.

2. Two of the subjects in CA Foundation are involved in an objective pattern, and the other two are involved in a subjective pattern.

3. The first two papers are considered subjective, while the third and fourth papers are considered objective.

4. Every incorrect response given to an objective question result in a 0.25 point deduction from the student’s overall score.

5. The CA Foundation Exams are given twice a year, once in November and once in May.

6. Students can choose to take the CA Foundation exams in either English or Hindi as their medium of instruction.

7. Candidates are required to earn at least 40% of possible points in each individual topic and at least 50% of possible points overall across all subjects.

8. Each paper is broken up into sections, and each component is allotted a certain percentage of the total possible marks.
