CS Executive stage
CS Executive is the second stage to clear for becoming CS i.e., Company secretary. After the completion of CS Foundation Course (First Stage), there are two more courses to be completed to become CS which are CS Executive & CS Professional. So, the second stage is the CS Executive.
Students can apply for the executive program through the CS foundation route or direct entry route provided by the Institute of Company Secretaries of India. For the direct route, the student must have cleared the graduation in commerce, or CMA foundation program, or CA foundation program to register for the executive level. To appear for the executive program exams, the student must have cleared the Student Induction Program (SIP). Also, they have successfully completed a computer training program as may be specified from time to time by the Council. The institute has not described any age limit to appear in the CS executive program.
How can you get a job after becoming a CS Executive?
No matter whichever course you do, if you do not complete it becomes really difficult for you to get a proper job for starting your career with. In other words, A Company Secretary course is actually a professional course. It has a value to an employer only if you have membership from the Institute of Company Secretaries of India.
We should acknowledge the fact that Company Secretaries are professional with an identity. Qualified Company Secretaries are given a membership no. from the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) with which you are eligible to be appointed as Key Managerial Personnel of a Company or can start your own practice and certify your work.
A semi-qualified Company Secretary i.e who has not cleared the professional stage of examination but only passed the executive stage is not a Company Secretary and is not eligible for any of the above.
So even if anybody has good knowledge on the subject, why would a Company hire if that person doesn’t have a membership number from ICS. It simply means that a CS Executive person cannot legally certify the work done by the company.
So , it is quite obvious that a Company would go for a qualified Company Secretary with good knowledge about the subject rather than paying a semi-qualified Company Secretary.
However, there are companies who do hire people because of their knowledge but then they also demand certain sacrifices from the employee which seems hard to the job seeker.
For instance, there is a high chance for a person who is young and hasn’t completed to appear for the next exam for which he may demand leave. This will hamper a company’s day to day work.
Second reason would be the job offer which an unqualified person gets is much less. Job seekers see this as an insult and hence deny that the job offered.
These are a few instances which come in between finding a good job. If you are ready to agree to employer terms it should not be difficult to get a job.
