    About the Course

Why the Right Platform Matters for CMA Inter

Completing CMA Intermediate is a serious step toward becoming a Cost and Management Accountant — it’s the groundwork for a solid grip on cost accounting, financial accounting, taxation, law, auditing, and strategic management. These are subjects that demand real conceptual clarity, not memorised shortcuts, which is exactly why the CMA Inter stage trips up students who treat it like an extension of Foundation rather than a genuine step up.

Our CMA Inter coaching is built around faculty with practical, hands-on experience in the subjects they teach, not just classroom theory. Each topic gets explained both logically and through real-world application, so students preparing for the CMA Inter Dec 2026 batch or CMA Inter June 2027 batch walk into the exam actually understanding the material, not just having sat through it.

    The Honest Truth

CMA Inter Isn’t Just About Studying — It’s About Studying Smart

Eight descriptive papers across two groups is a lot of syllabus to hold together. The CMA Inter stage is tough but genuinely rewarding — the difference tends to come down to strategy, not raw effort.

    The Common Pattern

    Where Students Struggle

    • Running behind the sheer volume of the syllabus instead of studying it strategically
    • Attempting both groups at once without a clear subject-by-subject plan
    • No structured test series, so exam-pattern gaps show up for the first time in the real attempt
    • Treating all eight papers the same way, when each demands a different kind of preparation

    Unique Academy’s Approach

    The Unique Academy Way

    • Faculty with practical, real-world experience explaining concepts logically, not just theoretically
    • Flexibility to take Group 1, Group 2, or both, based on what a student actually needs
    • A test series designed to replicate the real ICMAI exam pattern, with detailed performance feedback
    • Regular revision and marathon sessions built into every batch, not sold as an add-on

    Before You Enrol

    Questions?

    Frequently Asked Questions

CMA Intermediate is the second level of the Cost and Management Accountancy program run by ICMAI — the Institute of Cost Accountants of India. It sits between CMA Foundation and CMA Final, and it’s meaningfully harder than Foundation: instead of six broad introductory subjects, CMA Inter covers eight papers split into two groups, totalling 800 marks. This is the stage where a student’s grip on cost accounting, financial accounting, taxation, business law, auditing, and strategic management actually gets tested in depth, rather than introduced at a surface level.

CMA Inter is split into two groups of four papers each. Group 1 covers Business Laws and Ethics, Financial Accounting, Direct and Indirect Taxation, and Cost Accounting. Group 2 covers Operations Management and Strategic Management (OMSM), Corporate Accounting and Auditing (CAA), Financial Management and Business Data Analytics (FMDA), and Management Accounting. Students can register for and attempt either group independently, which matters for anyone who’s cleared one group already and just needs to focus on the other.

Eight papers total, split evenly across two groups of four. If you see this referenced as “Papers 5 through 12” anywhere, that’s ICMAI’s own numbering convention that continues on from CMA Foundation’s Papers 1 through 4 — Group 1 covers Papers 5 to 8, Group 2 covers Papers 9 to 12.

Every paper is a descriptive exam worth 100 marks, sat over 3 hours. Across all eight papers, that adds up to 800 marks for the full Intermediate examination. Because the exam is almost entirely descriptive rather than objective, writing practice matters just as much as concept clarity — a student who understands a topic but hasn’t practiced articulating it under time pressure often loses more marks than expected.

To register for CMA Intermediate, a candidate needs to have passed 10+2 along with the ICMAI Foundation exam (or an equivalent qualification), or hold a graduate degree. There are a couple of additional routes too — students who’ve cleared ICMAI’s CAT (Certificate in Accounting Technicians) exam are eligible, as are students currently in their second year of an engineering or other degree program. This flexibility means a student doesn’t necessarily have to wait until graduation to start on CMA Inter if they qualify through one of these alternate routes.

Registration happens online through the ICMAI student portal at eicmai.in. Candidates fill out the official registration form — Form S2 — upload the required documents, and pay the registration fee to complete the process. It’s worth starting this well before the deadline, since document verification can take some back-and-forth if anything’s missing or unclear on first submission.

ICMAI sets a fixed cut-off for each exam term. For the June exam attempt, the last date to register is 31st January of that year. For the December attempt, the deadline is 31st July. Missing these dates generally means waiting for the next term, so it’s one of the more important dates to track early in your preparation timeline.

Yes — students can choose live online classes with full recorded lecture access, or attend traditional face-to-face classroom coaching at the Pune centre. Both formats cover the identical syllabus and are taught by the same subject-specialist faculty, so the decision really comes down to which learning environment suits a student better, not any difference in course depth.

Both options exist. Live classes run on a fixed schedule for students who want real-time interaction with faculty, but every session is also recorded and available afterward via the mobile app or on a laptop. This setup is specifically built to accommodate working professionals and full-time students differently — someone with a day job can catch up on recordings in the evening without falling behind the live batch’s pace.

Unique Academy has produced over 200 All India Rankers specifically in the CMA Intermediate exams, which the academy points to as a reflection of its structured teaching approach and strong faculty track record. That said, individual results always depend heavily on a student’s own consistency and practice alongside the coaching — no coaching program guarantees a rank on its own.

The test series is structured to replicate the real ICMAI exam pattern as closely as possible, rather than being a generic bank of practice questions. It includes both topic-wise tests and full-syllabus mock exams, with detailed feedback and performance analytics after each one. The goal is to build both concept confidence and exam-day time management — a lot of CMA Inter students who know the material well still struggle to finish a 3-hour descriptive paper within time, and the test series is meant to catch that problem well before the real exam.

Support includes personal doubt resolution, mentoring, and performance tracking, along with general academic motivation through the preparation period. The team is reachable through calls and chat for questions, with the goal being that no student gets stuck on something and just gives up on a topic because they couldn’t get it clarified in time.

Doubts can be raised live during a session or submitted afterward through Unique Academy’s dedicated doubt-solving portal. Given how dense some CMA Inter subjects get — Direct and Indirect Taxation and Corporate Accounting and Auditing especially — having a channel to ask questions outside class hours tends to matter more at this level than it did during Foundation.

Group 1 faculty include Prof. Darshan Dhoka and Adv. Dipesh Sharma (Business Laws and Ethics), Prof. Navneet Agarwal (Financial Accounting), CA Saumil Manglani and CA CS CMA Bharat Runiwal (Direct and Indirect Taxation), and CA CS Pavan Sharma (Cost Accounting). Group 2 faculty include Prof. Vaibhav Innani and CA CS CMA Bharat Runiwal (OMSM), CA Mohit Rohra and Prof. Darshan Dhoka (Corporate Accounting and Auditing, and separately, Financial Management and Business Data Analytics), and CA CS Pavan Sharma again for Management Accounting. Each subject is handled by faculty who specialize specifically in that area.
