The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) provides students with the facility of inspection or supply of certified copies of answer book(s) on their request as per Guidelines, Rules and Procedures given by the Institute.
However, candidates are often found confused with the procedure of inspection of their answer book(s) or getting the certified copies of their evaluated answer book(s). This blog aims to provide a step-by-step guide to the procedure of inspection of answer books and supply of certified copies of answer books.
What are Inspection of Answer Books and Supply of Certified Copies of Answer Books?
During the scrutiny of answer scripts, candidates are granted the opportunity to personally examine certified true photocopies of their requested answer books.
In the instance of furnishing certified copies of answer scripts, these authenticated replicas, in PDF format, will be made available for download on the Institute’s website. This allows candidates to conveniently obtain a printed copy for their future reference.
Procedure for Inspection of Answer Books
1. Candidates have to apply for seeking inspection of their answer books in the prescribed form. Online submission of forms is not available.

2. The prescribed fee for inspection is Rs. 450 per subject and is to be paid through Demand Draft drawn in favour of “The Institute of Company Secretaries of India”, payable at New Delhi.
3. Before providing inspection to the candidates, the answer book(s) shall be processed as per the prescribed Guidelines in this regard.
4. Candidates have to personally visit ICSI’s Noida office, located at C-37, Sector-62, Institutional Area, Distt- Gautam Budh Nagar, Noida 201309, (U.P.) as per the specified time and date informed to them for inspecting their answer books.
They have to carry Institute’s I-card, copy of the E-Admit Card of the relevant session to establish their identity for inspecting their answer books. No other person will be allowed to enter with him/her during the process of inspection.
Procedure for Supply of Certified Copies of Answer Books
1. Candidates have to apply for certified copies of answer books in the prescribed form. Online submission of forms is not available.
2. The prescribed fee for supplying certified copies of answer books is Rs. 500 per subject and is to be paid through Demand Draft drawn in favour of “The Institute of Company Secretaries of India”, payable at New Delhi.
3. Before providing certified copies of answer book(s) to the candidates, the same shall be processed as per the prescribed Guidelines in this regard.
4. The certified true copies of the answer books in pdf format shall be uploaded on the website of the Institute and candidates can take the print out for their reference.
Application via RTI
In addition to the procedure mentioned above, candidates can also apply for inspection of answer sheets via RTI.
The Right to Information (RTI) Act permits individuals to request certified copies of their answer sheets of the relevant exams. In India, ICSI provides an online portal for this process. Here is a step-by-step guide to using this RTI Online portal:
- Begin by accessing the RTI Online Portal
- Proceed to submit a new request by clicking on the appropriate button.
- You’ll need to agree to the portal’s terms and conditions to proceed.
- Find “Institute of company secretaries of India” in the Public Authorities list.
- Fill in the required information in the fields provided.
- Enter the content of your RTI Request Application (a sample is provided below for reference).
- Attach a self-attested copy of your admit card and upload the document.
- Pay the application fee of Rs.10 and submit your application.
